Florida Spring is mid-March to Mid-May

My personal favorite season to camp in Florida is between the months of March and April. These 2 months provide the best weather for camping. Cold fronts that still come through on the back end of winter provide a solid Spring. Nights are typically in the 60’s and days are nice and warm. Perfect weather for the beach.

The beach is a great place to camp in the spring because the no-see-ums are minimal still. The weather is starting to warm up enough for a refreshing swim or snorkel in the ocean. Sea lice is at its lowest in the spring months and you have less chances of encountering jellyfish and manowar.

Bring your snorkeling gear to see all the beautiful sea creatures the ocean has to offer. Towels, a comfy fluffy hat, sunblock and beach chair are all essentials for beach camping in the spring. Paddling is also a popular sport in the Spring.

Take this time to relax or read a book on the beach. Take a refreshing dip in the ocean. Bring a pail for collecting seashells. Florida beaches are among some of the best for shell hunting. You may also find a shark tooth or two.

Aloe vera gel is also suggested in case you forget to reapply the sunblock. Light rain showers are possible all day so be prepared with an umbrella or better yet, a canopy for your picnic area.

If you’re feeling a bit more adventurist, check out a hiking trail at a preserve or natural area. These parks are usually free to get. Grab an insulated bag like this one from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/YETI-Hopper-Backflip-Cooler-Backpack You can carry it like a backpack and it will keep your water and snacks cool for the entire hike.

I also love these insulated bottles https://www.amazon.com/Thermoflask-50054-Double-Insulated-Stainless  for hiking or any long day out of the house where cold water is appreciated.

The weather begins to turn rainy and hot towards the end of April. Make sure you have a waterproof tent and good quality waterproof boots for hiking in the mud. Muddy sand is one thing that Florida is never short on.

Take advantage of great weather in March and April, stay on the beach and enjoy a perfect day under the sun and a cool night under the stars. Be prepared for rain and humidity in May.
