There is something so special about being in nature. It gives us the ability to reflect on all things in the world. It truly puts life in perspective. Sometimes all the soul needs is to be reminded of what it feels like to get a little dirty. The only way to do this is to be completely immersed in the great outdoors. Go for a hike at your local state park. Kayak the rivers and lakes of your closest nature preserve. Nothing is more gratifying than the feeling of being linked to nature, and the only way to feel that connection is to go outside.

My favorite way to experience the beauty and tranquility of my natural surroundings is to go camping. I don’t mean home on wheels camping with all the gadgets and electronics you brought from your house in the suburbs. I’m talking sleeping in a sleeping bag on the ground, cooking your food over a fierce glowing fire and turning off all phones, tablets, and televisions. Opening yourself to the sounds and landscapes of our beautiful planet. And yes, you will have to deal with at least a few of the creepy crawlies but it’s all a part of the experience. There is truly nothing more satisfying then listening to the sounds of rushing river waters or seeing the stars at night in all their beaming glory. I like to think of life as an adventure and nothing is more adventurous than exploring the flora and relating to the fauna Everyone should experience nature on a regular basis.

As a native Floridian I grew up in one of the most ecologically exciting places. I love hiking, bicycling, snorkeling, fishing, off roading, and about any other outdoor activity you can think of. Florida is one of the best places to do all of these. Every day there is a possible adventure waiting to be discovered. The amount of state parks, springs, and national parks here are endless. The wildlife is unbelievable, and the landscapes are unimaginable. I can’t understand other Floridians who tell me they’ve never gone camping or visited a natural spring, especially when it’s in their own back yard. There are so many possibilities to connect with nature. Go get dirty!

Love,

Nature Girl
